Finding the Sun

Finding the Sun

There once was the most adorable white fuzzy polar bear. Everyone loved him. There was something so special about him.
When he became large enough to run and play with the other little polar bears, he began to feel he was different.
All the others loved playing in the snow. Tossing ice balls was a favorite. The higher you could throw, the better. And the best part was catching one as it soared through the air.
But the precious little fuzzy polar bear did not join in. He preferred huddling to the side, just watching the others have so much fun. . . laughing, playing, rolling in the snow.
What was wrong with our fuzzy little bear? Why was he different? All little polar bears loved the snow, the cold.
And that was it! Our little polar bear was cold! Good grief! A polar bear who was cold!!!
So one day, after many cold ones, the polar bear knew what he must do. He loved all his friends, but he knew he was different and that he had to find the fun and laughter which his friends experienced every day.

He was different but somehow he knew he did not need to be cold every day. The shivering and the frostbite on his paws and toes just did not seem okay.
What was he to do? All he knew was living here on the ice, watching the snow fall, wandering up and down the bitter cold stream to catch a fish or something else that wiggled.
And then he looked up and became mesmerized with that huge bright ball in the sky. Somehow he knew that ball was shining just for him. He must find his sun.

And so his journey began.
Each of us is unique, special . . . You know in your heart that your sun is there for you to follow.
It does not mean you need to leave all your friends. Just listen to your heart. Feel the warmth of being you. For many it is a short journey; for others, like thepolar bear, it will be a long road to travel to warmer climate.
As you discover your uniqueness, your journey to “finding your sun,” there will be other wonderful bears crossing your path, learning from you . . . loving to laugh and play without all the ice and snow and the “cold”.
The warmth of the sun will remind you that not all bears are the same. We do not all enjoy the same games. It is okay to be different. Perhaps we all just hear a different tune, a unique tune.
In finding your sun, you will experience the warmth of being you. And you will find your place with all the other bears . . . the other bears who share your “sun”.
